Cheesecake
Cheesecake is by far one of my favorites. Every place I have ever lived, one of the first things I do after getting settled is try to find a decent piece of Cheesecake for a reasonable price.
When I say Cheesecake, I mean Cheesecake. I want a thick hearty slice. Something that when the waitress is coming across the room, you can tell there is a strain on her arm and a sigh of relief when she sets it down. Flavors and toppings are great, but the cake itself needs to have a good solid fresh flavor to it. It also needs to be a slice wider than something that looks like you could see a penny through it. Something with substance, a piece of cake you could stand on if you need to and just chilled enough so it doesn’t taste warm.
No Whipped Cream or Cool Whip. That belongs on Pumpkin Pie and that’s something I don’t eat at all. I do like dried, salted Pumpkin Seeds, but that’s another story.
Hearts a Plenty
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, this annual festival of love and romance. What exactly could I write about.
The obvious choice was Hearts. So I used the search function on the Candyland Crafts site to look up just how many different kinds of hearts are available in the store. Wow said I, that’s a lot!
So instead of featuring just one product or idea, I am going to throw a few ideas here and let you pick and choose. Or you can search for your own.
There’s a heart for you!
Soap Opera
Soap. It’s a four letter word most kids hate and many adults relegate to a standard block or some sort of lotion in a bottle that falls over every time it is pumped. It’s time to bring soap out of the dark ages, into the light of day and away from the square lump of crud that sits in a dish. I am going to teach you the value of creating your own Soap Opera!
Snow Suckers!
If you’re like me, you live in an area of the country where it has been snowing steady for several days now. While I have lots of things to do, there are times when I need a bit of diversion, so I am giving you the following idea to try during this winter season and also make some use of the tons of snow falling outside.
This idea has NOT been tested, but I’m pretty sure it will work.
Chocolate – Watch Your Temper !
For those of you who are making candy molds for the first time, you may wonder how some candy products look so good. They’re smooth and silky looking, nice and fresh looking, no strange colors and they really taste good when you eat them. You begin to worry, your stomach begins to quake….
Can I do that? Wash away your fears. It is easy to achieve this chocolate perfection.
This chocolate perfection is a process called Tempering.
What to do with Hard Sugar
Christmas brought tha annual baking season and the few times a year when Sugar and Brown Sugar are used at our house.
Sugar gets used in the holiday recipes, so it sits for months at a time in a sealed container, but even then it can get hard. The same goes for that box of Light Brown Sugar, that only gets used in a few recipes.
Here some things you can do to try to avoid the Sugar Rock.
